Asus P5E + Intel's Wolfdale --> E8400 4 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Greetings,

I'm looking for good X38 mobo, found a nice mobo - Asus P5E... I've read a detailed review about this solid lookin mobo - Bit-tech website. It was written in 2007.

I'm wondering if i need to download latest bios - 0602 or something like that and flash it on to Asus P5E mobo, so that it can support E8400, without any probs. Well, in order to flash it, i need another working CPU to do this, before inserting E8400. I dont have any spare CPUs. Any way to flash it without CPU being inserted in?

Regards, Moncy

Lol, yeah, i know its silly question, but i really dont want to buy extra CPU to do BIOS flashing.

Sound like ASUS P5E owners are so rare to find here

Why would you possibly be getting any problems with your mobo? What are the problems we are talking in here , i think the only problems you theoretically could face with it , is not a fully accurate temperature monitoring and things like that ? All the PCH pros feel free to correct me, since i have been out of a PC hardware world for a bit.

The problem that I'm expecting is >>> Cant update BIOS while E8400 is being inserted, in order to recognize this Wolfdale. Heard that I need spare CPU to do this.
