Crysis will have four amazing multiplayer modes. Each will require different tactics and play styles. Let me go over a few of the major features which Crysis will have...

Classes: Crysis will support a new class system which will be more customisable and which will allow players freedom of choice. You'll be able to mix and match weapons and abilities so you can play how you want. For example, some may want to be a medic and sniper while others would like to be an engineer while using a rocket launcher.

Componant Damage: Tanks and Jets will no longer rule the battlefield thanks to Crysis and it's componant damage system. In past games, vehicles would simply have 'health' style meters which when empty, would cause the vehicle to explode.

Crysis avoids this by taking a more complex but realistic approach. Let's take a helicoptor for example, shooting it's back rotor will send it into a violent spin and will most likely cause it to crash into the ground. However, like in real-life, helicopters don't always explode when they crash, it depends on how it crashes and where it crashes.

This all new componant damage system will make it more realistic and a lot more fun. It also gives vehicle users a second chance as they won't automatically die when they crash.

Vehicles: All multiplayer modes will have vehicles, but only the 'Power Strugle' mode will support all of them. Vehicles won't be as ruling unlike in many other games where vehicles dominate infantry.

The reason for this is a combination of things, componant damage being one and 'choice' being the other. Infantry can be much more useful and fun than many vehicles (thanks to great weapons and the nano-suit). So jumping in a vehicle will no longer be an automated habit.

Below are descriptions of the four multiplayer game modes...

Tactical Deathmatch
This multiplayer mode is to please those who just enjoy jumping into a server and going crazy. In this mode there are no teams or any main objectives. However there may be player based objectives, but not much is known. The reason this mode and most of the others have the word "Tactical" infront of them, is simply because of all the environmental dynamics as well as the players ability to customize their tools, weapons and suit.

Tactical Team Deathmatch
This is just like the deathmatch but with teams. There may be control points and other objectives but that is unknown at this time.

Power Struggle
This is it, the multiplayer mixup we've been waiting for. This mode takes the best from a hand full of genres and creates something totally unique yet spectacular. Let me explain...

All players start the game on one of two teams with nothing more than a pistol and a basic nano-suit. The two possible teams are the US Delta Force, or the North Korean Army. After you have joined a team with your pistol and basic nano-suit, you have to fight to earn points.

These points do more than just make your name look pretty on the scoreboard. You will use these points to purchase weapons, vehicles and even whole manufacturing plants.

How you earn points is quite interesting as it will depend on what type/rank of player you killed. For example, if you're a noob and you just killed a general, then you will get more points than if he killed you. This helps with balancing so the guy who gets the vehicle first doesn't just own the whole map.

Each game in "Power Struggle" mode can last over 10 hours (5 Crysis days). If buying standard vehicles isn't enough, you can even crossbreed them with alien technology. So you can have an invisible tank or a jeep that has a mounted freeze gun rather than a 50.cal. The combinations are amazing.

You can buy weapons from where you spawn, but you can buy better weapons and vehicles at certain control points of the maps. You can buy items using your prestige points which you can earn doing all sorts of things but mainly by killing enemies. However, when you die you will lose your gun and any of your vehicles, presuming your vehicle exploded when you died.

Crytek seems to be focused on producing a very tactical and dynamic gameplay method unlike any other. A game which provides the tools and story to allow the player to play how they see fit.

One of the things that makes the gameplay so great are the dynamics. You have the ability to re-model the environment as well as customise your abilities and weaponry in real-time as you fight it out against koreans and aliens.

Every game claims to have "tactics", but compared to Crysis, they just don't. Below are descriptions of all the major gameplay elements in Crysis.

Gameplay Elements of Crysis

  • Natural Events & Disasters: Crytek is pushing hard to make the Crysis world more believable and exciting than any other game. The world will act and react like the real world with things like dynamic weather, physical wind, varying temperatures and disasters. What does "disasters" mean you may ask, well things like earthquakes, tornadoes and maybe tsunamis. This should make things very interesting in combination with the destructible environments.

  • Dynamic Day & Night: In all games up until now, the game would always wait for you before it progressed in time. In Crysis, the game continues on regardless of how long you are taking.
  • So, if aliens are attacking and you're not helping anyone, the situation is going to get worse and worse. But the great thing is, the game won't force you to do anything, you can do it all at your own pace or even skip certain missions. But you may suffer the consequences.

  • Mission Dynamics: Not all missions in Crysis are compulsary. But if you complete an optional mission, you will usually get rewarded. As well as the ability to skip some missions, the outcomes of certain missions will vary, and so the lead up to the next mission will be different both ways. You will play with squad mates during certain missions, however if one dies, you won't ever see him again and so future missions may become more difficult.
  • Interactive and Destructible Environments: This probably has the biggest effect on gameplay. It's certainly the most unique feature to Crysis. Your actions and how you fight will directly effect the environment in either a positive or negative way. If you're playing online for example, and you find a good camping spot behind a tree.
  • The next time you join a server, someone may have blown that tree up so now you will instantly have to change your tactics to adapt to the dynamic and ever changing environment.

The AI also needs to be smart enough to adapt to this very dynamic and ever changing environment. The natural disasters mentioned above will be as destructible as you'd expect, but there's also non-natural distasters in Crysis such as nuclear bombs which can literally flaten the surrounding environment on a scale never before seen in a video game.

  • Weapon Modifications: You will have the ability to add and remove attachments such as scopes, lasers and flashlights while also having the ability to adjust what method of attack you wish to use. You may change your ammunition to a tranquilizer for a softer approach, or use explosive bullets for that little extra warmth. The combinations are almost endless and every weapon has some kind of customizable componant.

  • Vehicle Modifications: In the power struggle multiplayer mode, you'll be able to capture alien technologies and use them on your own human vehicles. You can mix and match just about anything. For example, you could replace the .50 cal machine gun on your jeep with an alien freeze ray. This will create some interesting and possibly 'odd' gameplay.

  • Nano-Muscular Suit: The year is 2020, of course there has to be some hi-tech suit. Your suit can perform many things, as long as it has the power to do so. In different situations you will require different enhanced attributes.
  • If you want to take the fast and agile approach, you would set your suit to speed as an example, but as a consequence, you will not only lose power from your suit, but you will decrease your other attributes. So it's extremely important to adjust your suit perfectly to match your tactics and the situation. The different suit functions are speed, strength, armor and cloak. I think you can work out for yourself what each function does.

  • Dynamic Story: The plot is set, but the rest is up to you. While some missions will be forced, others will be optional. Optional missions usually end with some kind of reward and they have the potential to alter the rest of the story.
  • Crysis has what the CEO of Crytek likes to call a multi-threaded storyline. This means every major character has a storyline of their own, this includes your squad mates. If you let a squad mate die for example (mentioned above), it may make your future missions a little tougher, or you may have to find an alternative to a certain task.

Another thing about the story is this. There are no cut scenes, nor is there anyone telling you what to do (not directly or constantly anyway).

The story will unfold around you, its your job to find out what's going on. You need to keep your eyes open and ears tuned. A squad mate may mention to another squad mate that there is a weak spot to destroying one of the alien crafts. If you don't hear what that is, your going to have to kill it the hard way. That's just one, there will be things like that the whole way through Crysis.

    Conclusion
In conclusion, Crysis will be a huge leap ahead in terms of gameplay. It will keep the proven-to-be-fun fps formula and add a whole new level to it.

It will be the most unique gaming experience you will have had in a long time - if not of all time. This will set the standard for pc and console games in the years to come.

The story line of a game is very important. It can directly affect a games success and how well you enjoy playing it.

The story line in Crysis is quite familiar yet at the same time very unique. Although alien invasions and spaceships are nothing new to the world of stories, some of the details of Crysis are very unique. The effects the spaceship has aswell as how the aliens look and behave are all very unique. My point is, Crysis has a kick ass story line.

    The Story
Earth, 2020: A colossal asteroid crashes down to Earth.

(yes, it was 2019, now Crytek is saying 2020)

Global tensions have reached boiling point as the U.S. and North Korea square off in the South China Sea. At stake: a mysterious artifact uncovered by a team of U.S. archeologists.

The North Korean government quickly seizes the area, prompting the U.S. to dispatch an elite team of Special Forces operatives on a rescue mission. During the siege the true nature of the artifact quickly emerges, pointing to the existence of an alien presence on Earth, and ultimately the trigger for a massive-scale alien invasion.

The battle to save Earth begins as the aliens’ flash freeze the tropics into a ghostly-white frozen landscape.

As gamers take up arms against the aliens, they will be outfitted with customizable weapons and a high tech Nanosuit, allowing them to adapt their tactics and abilities to a hostile, ever-changing environment and a mysterious enemy.

Crytek is a software devolopment team located in Coburg, Germany. Crytek was founded in 1999 by 3 passionate game & software devolopers, they are Cevat, Avni and Faruk Yerli. They released their first (full) game in 2004 titled Far Cry.

The game Far Cry was a massive success due to many aspects (which I won't go in to) but one of which was to do with CryEngine. CryEngine was massive for its day. It offered the best performance to visuals ratio of any other game at the time and probably still holds that crown.

However, just before the release of Far Cry, a police raid at Crytek studios on february 4, 2004 came close to closing Farcry devolopment. But the issue was resolved shortly after, and Crytek finshed Far Cry on track with its projected release date.

Crytek is a company dedicated to producing high quality games. However their goal with Far Cry wasn't just on producing a high quality game. But a game different from all the rest. Crytek is an industry leader in all aspects of games, from graphics to gameplay, Crytek is ultimate.

The success of Far Cry motivated them to further improve the game through patches and updates. It was then only a matter of time until they started work on a new game.

Crytek started working on CryEngine2 after the success of CryEngine1 in Far Cry. On the 30th of January (99 days before this website was launched) Crytek announced Crysis. With the same Goals as Far Cry, Crysis seems to be another unforgettable game from Crytek.
